China sees 826mn National Day domestic holiday trips

The nation saw 826 million domestic tourist trips during the recent seven-day National Day holiday, with tourism spending totaling 738.38 billion yuan, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on Friday. On a daily average basis, the number of domestic trips rose 6.3 percent from the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday in 2025, while tourism spending increased 4.3 percent, according to the ministry. The holiday witnessed a vibrant cultural scene, with 180 large-scale performances held nationwide, including 125 concerts and 55 music festivals. Measures to boost tourism consumption have also helped expand holiday options for visitors and enhance their travel experiences. Under a nationwide cultural and tourism consumption campaign running from late September through October, local authorities organised a variety of activities and distributed more than 310 million yuan in consumption subsidies.
