U.S. Patent Validates Cozaint's MARCIA Architecture for Intelligent Video Lifecycle Management

Newly Issued Patent Protects Multi-Tier Storage Architecture for VMS Timeline-Initiated Retrieval of Long-Term Video Surveillance Data.

San Diego, California Oct 7, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Cozaint Corporation announces the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,755,902, titled "Video Surveillance Playback System with Multi-Tiered Storage," protecting key aspects of the core architecture behind its MARCIA Intelligent Video Lifecycle Management (IVLM) platform. The patented architecture enables an operator's normal Video Management Software (VMS) playback request to initiate retrieval of archived surveillance video from long-term Linear Tape-Open (LTO) storage, restore the required video to rapidly accessible storage, and make it available again through the operator's existing VMS timeline without requiring any separate archive-retrieval process.

The newly issued patent represents a significant milestone for Cozaint and reinforces the company's long-term vision of transforming how organizations preserve, protect, retrieve, and unlock trusted visual evidence across enterprise surveillance environments.

Organizations have faced an unavoidable tradeoff between affordable long-term video retention and practical accessibility. Conventional video archive solutions can require operators to leave their familiar VMS environment, manually locate archived media, or initiate separate restoration procedures before historical video can be reviewed. MARCIA was engineered to remove that operational divide while preserving the economics of long-term LTO retention.

The patented architecture manages surveillance video across multiple storage tiers, combining rapidly accessible storage with economical long-term LTO media. The system uses middleware between the VMS and the storage infrastructure to maintain the relationship between recorded video, time, and physical storage location so historical video can be recovered when requested through the VMS workflow.

"For decades, LTO technology has provided organizations with a trusted foundation for long-term preservation," said Takuma Yano, General Manager, FUJIFILM North America Corp., Data Storage Solutions division. "Innovation such as Cozaint's patented architecture demonstrates how enterprise software can unlock new value from proven storage technologies by making long-term archived content more accessible within day-to-day operational environments. Fujifilm looks forward to continuing our support for innovations in long-term surveillance data management."

Importantly, the patented architecture is not tied to any single VMS platform. MARCIA is designed as a VMS-independent lifecycle management layer, allowing Cozaint to apply the same underlying architecture across supported VMS environments. The operator continues to use the familiar timeline and playback controls of the existing VMS while MARCIA manages the location, retrieval, and movement of historical video across storage tiers underneath that workflow.

When an operator requests historical video through the normal VMS timeline, MARCIA determines where the requested camera and time-period recordings reside. If the video has migrated to LTO, MARCIA recalls the required recordings and restores them into the storage structure expected by the VMS. The VMS then performs normal playback -- without requiring the operator to launch a separate archive application, manually identify tape media, or initiate a separate restoration job.

Cozaint believes this patented technology represents a foundational advancement in the emerging discipline of Intelligent Video Lifecycle Management (IVLM), an architectural approach focused on preserving enterprise visual continuity while making long-term trusted visual evidence economically practical and operationally accessible.

As enterprise surveillance deployments continue to grow into petabyte-scale environments, organizations are increasingly seeking solutions that reduce storage costs while extending retention periods to satisfy regulatory, operational, investigative, legal, and business intelligence requirements. Cozaint's patented architecture addresses these objectives by leveraging the economics, durability, and energy efficiency of LTO technology without forcing organizations to abandon the VMS workflows already used by security operators.

"This patent represents years of engineering focused on solving one of the surveillance industry's longest-standing challenges. Organizations should never have to choose between retaining valuable visual evidence and maintaining operational simplicity. MARCIA bridges that gap by making long-term video preservation a seamless extension of the existing VMS experience at the most affordable storage costs. We believe this technology provides a strong foundation for the future of Intelligent Video Lifecycle Management," said Nauzad Sadry, Chief Technology Officer of Cozaint Corporation.

MARCIA currently supports Milestone XProtect, Hanwha WAVE, Digital Watchdog Spectrum IPVMS, Network Optix Nx Witness, PIKO VMS, and BOBBYvms, with additional VMS platforms continually being added. Across supported environments, MARCIA's architectural objective remains consistent: the operator's normal VMS timeline interaction initiates the long-term video retrieval process without requiring a separate archival workflow.

As organizations increasingly recognize the strategic value of long-term visual evidence for security, compliance, investigations, legal defense, operational analytics, and emerging AI applications, Cozaint believes Intelligent Video Lifecycle Management will become an essential architectural layer within enterprise surveillance infrastructure. Preserving original visual history gives organizations the ability to revisit past events with future investigative methods and future generations of AI.
