More than 40 recipe iterations underpin recognition for Greenwood Foods’ oat bar in the Free-from category

Leeds, 7 October 2026: SNACK’d, the oat bar brand from Greenwood Foods Ltd, has received a Silver Award in the Free-from category at the Great British Food Awards for its Apple & Raisin oat bar. The recognition marks a proud milestone for the team behind the product and a recipe developed through more than 40 attempts and refinements.

Greenwood Foods founder Damien Gray and co-founder Sam Waterfall celebrated the achievement at the awards presentations at Spitalfields Market in London on 6 October 2026, alongside fellow food producers, winners and judges.

Launched in 2014, the Great British Food Awards celebrate artisanal food and drink. Their judging process draws on a panel of chefs, food critics and influencers, with shortlisted products assessed by expert category judges who determine the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. SNACK’d’s Apple & Raisin bar was included on the official 2026 Free-from shortlist.

For the founders, the award recognises the care invested in developing a bar that people would enjoy eating. The recipe combines oats, apple, raisins, seeds and cinnamon, bringing together a deliciously chewy texture and fruit flavour.

The journey to the finished product involved repeated recipe trials and refinements. Rather than settling on an early version, the team continued developing the bar until it delivered the eating experience they were looking for. That persistence is central to the story behind the product now available to customers.

Damien Gray, founder of Greenwood Foods, said: “We went through more than 40 recipe versions because we wanted to make a bar people would choose for its taste. Every refinement mattered. Receiving Silver at the Great British Food Awards is a very proud moment and makes all that work feel worthwhile.” Gray continued: “At the #GreatBritishFoodAwards taste is foremost. But with SNACK’d beyond our bars’ deliciousness, we’re equally proud to have created a bar that is gluten-free, dairy-free and certified Vegan, Kosher and Halal. It’s one bar that makes everyone happy!"

Sam Waterfall, co-founder, added: “An award like this is a shared achievement. Behind every bar are people working on design, manufacturing and fulfilment, alongside the investors who have supported us. It was wonderful to celebrate their contribution and to meet other producers who put so much care into what they make.”

The presentation also gave the founders an opportunity to hear the stories behind other winning products and sample food from fellow award recipients. For SNACK’d, it was a chance to celebrate both its own achievement and the commitment to quality shared across the food producer community.

Meanwhile, soothing ingredients such as centella asiatica, commonly known as cica, are featured in products from Dr.G, Round Lab and SKIN1004, making them options for those with sensitive or stressed skin. For those looking to brighten their complexion, vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps improve the appearance of dullness and uneven skin tone. Options are available from Sola, Dear Klairs and iWhite Korea. Another ingredient gaining attention in K-beauty is PDRN, which is featured in products from Biodance, Genabelle and Anua. It is used in formulations marketed toward smoother, revitalized-looking skin. Daily sun protection also remains an essential part of any beauty routine.
