Cornish holiday company Harbour Holidays is excited to announce the addition of six new properties available for visitors to hire in the Padstow area this summer season.

The Padstow holiday specialist recently added the new homes to its website, where potential holidaymakers can check availability and book online.

All six properties are privately owned cottages, houses and apartments in Padstow and the surrounding villages. They all have their own distinct characteristics and range from bijou boltholes to large family residences.

Several of the new accommodation options are located close to the centre of Padstow, where visitors can enjoy spectacular views from the historic fishing harbour, as well as access to first-class shops, pubs and restaurants.

The new Padstow houses to rent are The Pad, Bumblebee and Holly Cottage. All three offer the best of both worlds, as they are near to the town with all its facilities while also being close to stunning Cornish beaches, coastline and countryside.

The latest properties also include peaceful locations in the nearby villages of St Merryn, Trevone and Tregonce near St Issey. Attractive features of these properties include large lawned gardens and spacious interiors, and one has views over open countryside to the Camel Estuary.

Nicky Stanley from Harbour Holidays commented: “We’re really proud to welcome these fantastic new properties to our collection. They are all lovely in their own right and are handily located for memorable holidays in Cornwall.”

The holiday letting agency now promotes a total 174 homes in and around Padstow, making it the largest local agency in this part of Cornwall.

Nicky Stanley added: “It’s great that these holiday home owners have entrusted these special properties to us to manage and promote on their behalf. We look forward to delivering bookings for the owners and welcoming guests into these amazing holiday lets this summer.”

Alongside these six new holiday homes, visitors to harbourholidays.co.uk have a wide and varied range of accommodation to choose from. The wider collection features harbourside cottages, rural retreats, modern apartments and beachside cottages.

BANGKOK — Pope Francis will travel to Thailand and Japan in November for a visit expected to highlight his call for complete nuclear disarmament and honor the small Catholic communities in each country. The Vatican confirmed the Nov. 19-26 trip, and its diplomatic representative in Thailand, Archbishop Paul Tschang In-Nam, announced the Thai stop on Friday. Francis will be in Thailand on Nov. 20-23 before heading to Japan, where government spokesman Yoshihide Suga said the pope would meet with the emperor and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. US priest who gave out gifts in Philippines accused of abuse

Sep 17, 2019

TALUSTUSAN, Philippines — The American priest's voice echoed over the phone line, his sharp Midwestern accent softened over the decades by a gentle Filipino lilt. On the other end, recording the call, was a young man battered by shame but anxious to get the priest to describe exactly what had happened in this little island village. "I should have known better than trying to just have a life," the priest said in the November 2018 call. "Happy days are gone. It's all over." But, the young man later told the Associated Press, those days were happy only for the priest....

China ban on some textbooks seen aimed at Uighur culture

Sep 17, 2019

BEIJING — For 15 years, Yalqun Rozi skillfully navigated state bureaucracies to publish textbooks that taught classic poems and folk tales to millions of his fellow minority Uighurs in China's far western region of Xinjiang. That all changed three years ago when the ruling Communist Party launched what it says is a campaign against ethnic separatism and religious extremism in Xinjiang. Suddenly even respected public figures like Rozi were being arrested, caught up in a crackdown that critics have said amounts to cultural genocide. An estimated 1 million Uighurs have since been detained in internment camps and prisons across the...

Hong Kong police and protesters clash, ending violence lull

Sep 17, 2019

HONG KONG — Hong Kong protesters threw bricks and gasoline bombs at police, who responded with tear gas, as chaotic scenes returned to the summer-long anti-government protests on Saturday for the first time in nearly two weeks. Hundreds of black-clad protesters armed with bamboo poles and baseball bats fought with police officers wielding batons on a main road following a march against "smart lampposts" that was sparked by surveillance fears. The chaotic scenes unfolded outside a police station and a nearby shopping mall as officers in riot gear faced off with protesters who set up makeshift street barricades. The violence...

Chinese pop stars publicly back Beijing on Hong Kong

Sep 17, 2019

HONG KONG — At least eight pop stars from mainland China and one each from Taiwan and Hong Kong are publicly stating their support for Beijing's one-China policy, eliciting a mixture of disappointment and understanding from fans. Many of the statements came after protesters opposed to Beijing's growing influence over semi-autonomous Hong Kong removed a Chinese flag and tossed it into Victoria Harbour earlier this month. Lay Zhang, Jackson Wang, Lai Kuan-lin and Victoria Song were among the K-pop singers who recently uploaded a Chinese flag and declared themselves as "one of 1.4 billion guardians of the Chinese flag" on...
